Keeping Up With Me

My Recent Adventures

Thursday, January 9, 2014

2013 was a year of learning, overcoming, and adapting for me. With  making the ultimate decision of ending my marriage for good, quitting my job, moving back to my hometown with nothing but the clothes I own, my wonderful pup, Bowie, and a final paycheck of a whopping $600, not to mention having to start my life completely over...it was a lot for a girl to grasp hold of. But I've learned that I am stronger than I ever knew to withstand all those events and still standing tall (if not taller), with more confidence and happiness then I've had before.  I've learned a lot and have grown so much this past year and I am proud of the woman I'm becoming. So with the turning of a new year, which I'm sure will have it's own share of challenges, I've decided to  change things up a little, make my life a little more interesting, take risks, go on more adventures, eat a cheeseburger if I want it, and just experience life as a twenty-five year old should.

As I was thinking up resolutions I came across a pin on Pinterest that was titled "65 books you need to read in your twenties." I took a gander at the list...it wasn't too bad and actually some of those books seemed interesting to say the least! So as I was going through I made a list of some of the books that I wanted to read this year. Now these aren't just the next obsession on the social medias hit list, these were actual books about learning and growing and figuring out who you are and what your purpose in life is going to be type of books. Something I believe I needed after the events that unfolded last year. So the first book I've begun to read is called "Wild" by Cheryl Strayed. The book is a memoir of her journey of self-discovery through hiking The Pacific Crest Trail, a 1,100-mile hike from the Mojave Desert through California and Oregon to the border with Washington State.

So far it's an amazing read! I can't put it down actually!! :) I definitely recommend it for all twenty-something year olds or anyone in general who feels that they are on the verge of losing everything and need a pick-me-up. And even better because it's going to be made into a movie, starring Reese Witherspoon!! I'm excited to see this wonderful book come to life on a movie screen. Just thought I'd share that.

❤️ xoxoxo..
